James and Maia Schaberg
James and Maia Schaberg founded Zipper Dance in 2012. They now lead teacher trainings and co-instruct workshops across North America. James studied dance at Northwestern Michigan College and Maia earned her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance from Cornish College of the Arts. Having trained and performed in more than two dozen styles of social, performance, and somatic dance, the couple brings a wealth of experiences to their workshops and the recently published Zipper Dance book. They live in Northern Michigan.
Throughout his life, Carsten Almskaar has engaged the world physically both in work and play. In 2012 has renewed his dedication to Aikido which has been foundational in his outlook on life. In 2013 he discovered Zipper Dance, Contact Improv, and Kaleidoscope Yoga. He takes great joy in sharing the common themes of connection, partnership, healing, and self-expression embodied in these activities. He lives near Bellingham, Washington.
Satori Grace Harrington
Satori Grace Harrington grew up with a passion for dancing and found herself studying disco to contact improv and everything in between. Her heart drives her life with finding joy in being playful, creative, and authentic connecting. She is truly excited to share this sweet co-creative dance with all those whom desire a richer playground in dance. The rest of her time is filled with love of motherhood, reiki healing, shamanic practice, and community building.
Andreea Grad lives in Oakland, CA where she will be facilitating Zipper Dance workshops starting Spring 2015.
